Description
Semax | ACTH(4-7)-PGP Neuropeptide — Research Grade
Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the ACTH 4-7 core sequence with a Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal extension added for metabolic stability. It is registered in Russia for ischaemic stroke, TBI, and optic nerve disease.
Mechanism of Action
- BDNF upregulation — preclinical studies report 1.5-2.5x increases in BDNF expression in hippocampal and cortical tissue
- MC4R/MC3R agonism — activates melanocortin receptors involved in cognitive and anti-inflammatory signalling
- VEGF stimulation — promotes vascular remodelling in ischaemia models (MCAO)
- Dopamine/serotonin effects — studied for modulation of dopaminergic turnover in prefrontal cortex
Research Areas
Semax is studied in stroke recovery, cognitive enhancement, ADHD-like models, anxiety, and neuroprotection. It does not elevate IGF-1, distinguishing it from GH-axis peptides.
For Research Use Only. Rainbow Peptide supplies Semax exclusively for in vitro and laboratory research purposes. Not for human or veterinary use.

Dr. I. Volkov –
Semax used in our BDNF/ACTH analogue and neuroprotection research. Rainbow Peptide’s lot confirmed at 98.9% purity. BDNF upregulation in our neuronal cell model was dose-dependent and reproducible. COA was comprehensive.
M. Bjornsen –
Highest quality Semax we’ve sourced in three years. LC-MS confirmed both purity and sequence integrity. Our cognitive enhancement research panel now exclusively uses Rainbow Peptide for heptapeptide sourcing.
A. Kamau –
Semax dissolved easily in saline. Purity verified at 98.5% by our HPLC. COA detailed. Our in vitro dopamine and serotonin modulation assay showed expected response. Good turnaround time on the order.
