DSIP | Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide — Research Grade
DSIP (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated from rabbit thalamic venous blood and identified as a modulator of slow-wave (delta) sleep. It is found endogenously in the hypothalamus, limbic system, pituitary, and blood.
Mechanism of Action
- Delta wave promotion — original isolation studies showed induction of delta EEG activity and slow-wave sleep in rabbits and rodents
- HPA axis modulation — reduces corticotropin (ACTH) and cortisol release in stress models; studied for stress-buffering properties
- Opioid system interaction — studied for modulation of mu- and delta-opioid receptor activity and pain sensitivity
- Antioxidant — reported ROS scavenging activity in in vitro oxidative stress models
