KPV | Alpha-MSH C-terminal Tripeptide — Research Grade
KPV (alpha-MSH 11-13: Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Despite its small size, it retains the anti-inflammatory signalling activity of the parent peptide and has been studied extensively in gut inflammation and wound healing models.
Mechanism of Action
- MC1R agonism — activates the melanocortin 1 receptor expressed on immune and epithelial cells
- NF-kB inhibition — suppresses the canonical inflammatory transcription factor intracellularly, independent of cell surface receptor binding
- Gut epithelial barrier — studied for restoration of tight junction integrity in leaky gut and IBD models
- Wound healing — promotes fibroblast proliferation and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine expression at wound sites
