SR-9009 Powder — Research Overview
SR-9009 (Stenabolic) is a synthetic Rev-erbα and Rev-erbβ agonist developed by the Scripps Research Institute. Rev-erb proteins are nuclear receptors that function as master regulators of the circadian clock, lipid metabolism, and mitochondrial biogenesis. SR-9009 is mechanistically distinct from SARMs — it does not bind the androgen receptor — but is grouped with them commercially due to similar research applications in body composition models.
Mechanism of Action
SR-9009 activates Rev-erbα/β, which suppress the expression of BMAL1 and Clock genes — key components of the circadian transcription-translation feedback loop. This disrupts the normal circadian oscillation, producing constitutive activation of metabolic gene programs normally only active during the active phase. The result in rodent models: increased mitochondrial density in skeletal muscle, enhanced fatty acid oxidation, reduced lipid and glucose synthesis in the liver, and increased basal metabolic rate irrespective of activity level.

Fang et al. (Nature Medicine, 2014) demonstrated SR-9009 reduces atherogenic lipid profiles and atherosclerotic plaque in LDL receptor–deficient mice — a frequently cited reference study.
