Description
Folinic Acid Capsules | Leucovorin — Active Folate Research Compound
Folinic acid (leucovorin; 5-formyl-tetrahydrofolate) is the biologically active, reduced form of folic acid that functions directly in the folate cycle without requiring DHFR (dihydrofolate reductase) activation. This bypasses the common MTHFR polymorphism bottleneck that limits folic acid conversion in a significant proportion of the population. These capsules (25mg per capsule, 60 capsules) support one-carbon metabolism, methylation cycle, and nucleotide synthesis research.
Mechanism of Action
- One-carbon metabolism — directly donates formyl groups to the one-carbon pool; bypasses DHFR and MTHFR reduction steps
- Thymidylate synthesis — provides the 5,10-methylene-THF substrate for thymidylate synthase (TYMS), essential for DNA replication
- Purine synthesis — contributes 10-formyl-THF to de novo purine biosynthesis (GART, ATIC reactions)
- Homocysteine remethylation — supports methionine synthase-mediated homocysteine methylation via 5-methyl-THF intermediate
Research Areas
Folinic acid capsules are studied in methylation cycle biology, cancer metabolism (methotrexate rescue protocols), neural tube development models, and MTHFR genotype research. Relevant alongside NAD+ capsules and 1-MNA capsules in comprehensive one-carbon and metabolic coenzyme research panels.
For Research Use Only. Rainbow Peptide supplies this compound exclusively for in vitro and laboratory research purposes. Not for human or veterinary use.
