Description
MOTS-c Capsules | Mitochondrial Derived Peptide — Metabolic Research
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial Open-Reading Frame of the 12S rRNA-c) is a 16-amino acid peptide encoded within the mitochondrial genome — one of only a few known mitochondria-derived peptides (MDPs). It translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress conditions and acts as a transcriptional regulator of AMPK-mediated metabolic adaptation. These capsules (10mg per capsule, 30 capsules) support oral research protocols examining mitochondrial-nuclear communication.
Mechanism of Action
- AMPK activation — activates AMP-activated protein kinase, the master metabolic switch regulating glucose uptake and fatty acid oxidation
- AICAR pathway convergence — increases cellular AICAR levels, amplifying the AMPK-activating signal
- GLUT4 translocation — promotes glucose transporter 4 membrane expression in muscle cells independent of insulin
- Mitochondrial-nuclear retrograde signaling — unique ability to relay mitochondrial stress signals to nuclear gene expression programs
Research Areas
MOTS-c is studied in type 2 diabetes, obesity, exercise physiology, insulin resistance, and longevity research. Represents the mitochondrial-genome-encoded arm of metabolic peptide research, complementing SS-31 (IMM structural support) and NAD+ (ETC substrate).
For Research Use Only. Rainbow Peptide supplies this compound exclusively for in vitro and laboratory research purposes. Not for human or veterinary use.
