Description
MK-677 (Ibutamoren) Research Chemical
MK-677 (Ibutamoren, Nutrobal) is a non-peptide, orally active ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a) agonist and growth hormone secretagogue. Unlike GHRH analogues (peptides), MK-677 is a small molecule — orally bioavailable and with a long half-life (~24 hours in humans). It is classified separately from SARMs mechanistically but is commonly grouped in the SARM research category.
Research Applications
- GH/IGF-1 axis research — sustained secretagogue stimulation
- Muscle wasting models: MK-677 showed significant lean mass effects in Phase II trials (Nass et al., 2008)
- Bone density research
- Aging and metabolic decline models
- Sleep quality research (GH pulsatility during slow-wave sleep)
