Histidine Buffered Saline (HBS) is a specialised pharmaceutical formulation buffer widely used in biologic drug development, particularly for subcutaneous injection formulations and lyophilised protein reconstitution. Histidine provides superior buffering capacity at slightly acidic pH (6.0) compared to phosphate buffers, while offering additional cryoprotection and anti-aggregation benefits for sensitive peptide and protein research materials.
